"Music is the art of the ears, not of the fingers."
These are some of my thoughts on teaching and learning.
1. I am interested in guiding individuals to realize their artistic and professional goals.
2. It is vital for music students to have clear and ultimate professional goals.
3. I encourage students to be thinking artists who question all musical decisions.
4. You are your own teacher when you are practicing.
5. Your musical observations about yourself shouldn't be just critical but qualitative.
6. It is never too early to start studying chamber music and orchestral repertoire.
7. Find the meaning in the music!
8. Perform auditions as you would a recital program.
9. Develop your inner rhythm by counting out loud while you play in lieu of excessive metronome usage.
10. Practicing is your job. No excuses!!!
11. Music is a social profession, so don't isolate yourself. Develop meaningful musical friendships with your peers.
12. Learning is a life long pursuit.
